Directions:PREHEAT OVEN 215ºF
1) Wash mason jars in dishwasher. Then put in oven upside down for 30 minutes at 215ºF. They must be completely dry. After 30 minutes set jars on counter to cool off at room temperature. 2) Now fill jars with flour and compact it (by tapping the jar gently on the counter it will cause the flour to settle down and compact in the jar. (THIS DOES TAKE TIME TO DO) keep filling the jar and tapping down the flour until it doesn't go any more. IMPORTANT: FILL TO 1 INCH FROM TOP OF JAR (UP TO NECK). 3) Once the jar is ready - put in the oven on the rack carefully with no lid. BUT YOU WILL DECREASE THE HEAT IN OVEN TO 200ºF for 1-1/2 HOURS. 4) Wash your mason lids and then put in a pie plate to heat in oven for 5 minutes. 5) Take a lightly damp paper towel and wipe the rim of the jar (to remove any flour dust). 6) Put the lid on the jar and tighten. 7) Date the mason lid with a Sharpe Pen. |

Notes: Does take some time to do - so do on a rainy day.....this is a great way to preserve flour to last for emergencies.
