1 lb brown sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups self rising flour
2 cups chopped pecans
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
In double boiler mix the brown sugar and eggs. Boil 20 minutes (time it). Let cool completely. (Mommom did this at night and let it cool on the counter overnight.)

Add flour, pecans and vanilla.

Grease 11 x 15 pan w/butter - not spray. Spread and bake at 325º approximately 45 minutes. Check after 30 using a toothpick.

Mrs. Newman lived down the street from where Pa Betts's mom lived in Augusta, GA. She had several very large pecan trees. When we visited we would go over and collect baskets full of pecans, and then take them home and crack them for hours.
