6 large eggs
1 ½ cups half-and-half or milk
1 tsp grated orange zest (optional)
½ tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp honey
½ tsp kosher salt
1 large challah or brioche bread
unsalted butter
vegetable oil

To serve:
maple syrup
any fruit jam (optional)
sifted confectioners sugar

1. Preheat oven to 250ºF .

2. In a large bowl whisk together the eggs, half-and-half, orange zest, vanilla, honey, and salt.

3. Then slice the challah bread into smaller portions. Pour egg mixture over the bread and let sit for 5 minutes.

4. Heat 1 Tbsp of butter & 1 Tbsp vegetable oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. add the soaked bread to the pan and cook on each side for 2-3 minutes or until nicely browned. Place cooked pieces of bread on a sheet and place in the oven to keep warm in-between batches.

5. Adding butter and oil as needed fry the rest of the soaked bread pieces until its all cooked. Serve hot with maple syrup, fruit jam, and/or confectioners sugar enjoy!!

*Quick Tip*

For measuring out the honey lightly oil the TBSP with melted coconut oil or veggie oil, that way the honey comes easily off the spoon! This will not change the final flavor of the product.
