1 3/4 cups sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup cold mashed potatoes
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
3 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups sifted plain flour
3/4 cup walnuts (chopped)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix all ingredients together. Pour into a greased and floured 9x13 inch cake pan. Bake for 50 to 50 minutes. Let cool and add a glaze if wanted.
