1 egg
1 tbsp. milk
¼ tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. butter
2 slices of bread

Optional:
¼ tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg in a flat-bottom bowl.
Stir in milk, vanilla, and (optional) spices.
Heat butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Spread butter around pan.
Dip bread in egg mixture. Flip to cover both sides.
Cook until browned, then flip and cook the other side.

Top with butter and maple syrup, or use different jams, peanut butter, or fruit toppings.

Experiment with different types of bread. We normally use sourdough. You can also cut off the brown part of bagels. You can even use desert-type breads like povitica or raisin bread. If your bread is over ¾ of an inch thick, you will need to cook it longer on a lower temperature. The outside should be mottled or speckled with cream colors and light brown when done.
