1 cup butter, softened
1 ½ cups confectioner’s sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon almond extract
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar


Vanilla Butter Frosting
1/3 cup soft butter or margarine
3 cups powdered sugar
1 ½ teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons milk

Directions:

Mix thoroughly butter, powdered sugar, egg, vanilla and almond extract. Blend in flour, soda and cream of tartar. Cover; chill 2 to 3 hours.

Heat oven to 375. Divide dough in half. Roll each half 1/3-inch thick on lightly floured cloth covered board. Cut into desired shapes; place on lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake 7 to 8 minutes or until light brown on edges. Cool completely before frosting.


Once cool, prepare the frosting. Blend butter and sugar. Stir in milk and vanilla. Beat frosting until smooth. You can add food coloring if you want.
