Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This was Dad's classic Christmas morning recipe and I was so excited when I found the original copy, taken from none other than the Mountain Fuel Supply "Breakfast Brighteners" book! I'm pretty sure Dad doubled this recipe, as I remember him using the whole can of soup (but I could be remembering wrong). I don't remember Dad cubbing the bread? And for some reason I always thought he topped it with cheddar cheese? So he may have made his own adaptations.
I have cooked this recipe many times camping in a dutch oven and have made many variations! I have sautéed extra mushrooms and added it, added broccoli and spinach, and even used vegetarian sausage (insert gasp here)! And of course, we always make this the night before Christmas. It is so easy and so delicious.
