2 large pillows of shredded wheat
2 cups Raisin Bran or 1 cup Bran Buds
1 cup boiling water
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
2 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 pt buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Crush the 2 pillows of shredded wheat and place in a medium bowl. Add 2 cups Raisin Bran. Pour in 1 cup boiling water. Stir and set aside. Cream 1/2 cup shortening and 1 1/2 cup sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add the cereal mixture and stir gently by hand. Sift together 2 1/2 cups flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add flour mixture alternating with one pint buttermilk. Stir lightly by hand. Store overnight covered in refrigerator. Bake in 375 degree oven for 20 minutes. Batter will keep up to 6 weeks.
