1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour

Filling
1-8oz package cream cheese
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Topping
2-3 apples, peeled and thinly sliced
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
dash nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/4 cup sliced almonds

Directions:

Bake at 450ºF for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 400ºF for 25 minutes.

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add 1/4 teaspoon vanilla. Add flour and mix well. Spread dough onto bottom of pan and up sides ( for about 1½ in.) of springform pan.

Combine cream cheese, 1/4 cups sugar, 1 egg, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Mix well and pour into pastry-lined pan.

Combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon juice. Arrange over cream cheese mixture.

Sprinkle with almonds.

Loosen cake from rim of pan. Cool. Remove rim and chill.
