Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 cup real butter
1 cup cream cheese
¼ cup sugar
¼ cup ground nuts
2 ¼ cup flour
¼ cup brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix butter, cream cheese and flour nto a dough. Chill for one hour. Mix nuts, sugar and brown sugar in a separate bowl. On a flat clean surface, sprinkle the sugar/nut mixture. Roll out the dough on top of he sugar into a round pie shape, farily thin. You will need to cut the pie into triange wedges. Roll crescent style. Bake at 350º for 20 minutes.

You may need to use trial and error to get the size you want. The cookies should not get brown, also watch so the thin edges don't get brown. May need to adjust temperature and cooking time.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
I had the fantastic opportunity to travel to Germany in 2013 with my family. We stayed in the small village of Botzenweiler in the holiday house belonging to the family of Elke Metzger. She had these cookies and a bottle of wine waiting on a table upon our arrival. They were SO delicious and she graciously gave me the recipe. Her name for them were Nusshornchecn von Botzenweiler. I told her I would always call them 'Elke's Cookies". Elke used a special pie shaped cookie cutter, which I have not been able to find.
