2 c Flour
2 c Sugar
1 Stick Butter
1 c Water
1/2 c Shortening (Crisco Stick)
3 1/2 T Cocoa
1/2 c Buttermilk (If you don't have Buttermilk-use regular milk & add a little white vinegar--let set 5 minutes & stir)
2 Eggs
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Vanilla
Icing:
1 Stick Butter
3 1/2 T Cocoa
1 tsp. Vanilla
1/3 c Milk
1 Box Powdered Sugar
1 c Chopped Nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Do Not Use Mixer. Combine flour & sugar in a large bowl. In a sauce pan combine & bring to a boil--Butter, water, shortening, & cocoa. Pour over the flour sugar mixture. In a separate bowl combine buttermilk, eggs, baking soda & vanilla then add to the other mixture. Pour into a 12"X18"X1" pan and bake for 20 minutes at 400º. When cake has baked 18 minutes, combine in a sauce pan first 4 ingredients of the icing & bring to a boil. Add powdered sugar & nuts. Pour over hot cake.

This recipe is from Lonita's ( my best friend) mom (Susie Elmore). It is really moist and chocolaty. It is great to serve a crowd.
