1 cup chopped dates
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/2 cup milk
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup nuts, chopped
1 1/2 cups boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
In bowl, combine dates, 1 cup brown sugar, milk, flour and baking powder; mix thoroughly. Place mixture in 8" x 8" pan. In small bowl, combine 3/4 cup granulated sugar and 1/4 cup brown sugar; mix well. Sprinkle this mixture evenly on top of dough in pan. Then dot with 2 tablespoons butter and 1 cup chopped nuts. Over this, carefully pour 1 1/2 cups boiling water. Bake at 375 until thick, about 30 minutes. Serve with whipped cream.
