Daddy's Biscuits Recipe

1 c flour, heaping (Better for Bread preferably)
1 ½ t baking powder
½ t baking soda
½ t salt
¾ c buttermilk
¼ c oil

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 deg F.

Stir together wet ingredients. In separate bowl, stir together dry ingredients. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir until just incorporated. Do not over mix.

Add more buttermilk if needed. Oil skillet.

Take a handful of dough and dredge it in flour tossing it back and forth in your hands to remove excess flour. Place biscuits in oiled skillet with sides touching. Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.

Daddy used to love to eat these biscuits as often as possible particularly with Steen’s syrup. Momma did as well, but she preferred homemade fig preserves though Steen’s would suffice. I can’t be for certain, but I believe that Daddy morphed this recipe from Momma’s cathead biscuits or Mrs. Myrt’s (Nickens) biscuits. Again, a family staple passed on to generations.
