2 gal. small cucumbers
salt brine- 2 c. salt in 1 gal. water for 12 days
1 tsp. alum
8 c. vinegar
7 c. sugar
stick of cinnamon
1 c. sugar

Directions:
Put 2 gal. small cucumbers un-washed in salt brine (2 c. salt in 1 gal. water for 12 days) Froth and scum indicate that they are working and curing. Drain off, then put in cold water for 24 hours. Split length wise regardless of size. Put in kettle and cover with equal parts of water and vinegar. Add 1 tsp. of alum. Bring to a boil. Drain & put in crock. Prepare syrup of 8 c. vinegar & 7 c. sugar. Add stick of cinnamon. Bring to a boil & cover cucumbers. Repeat this nine times adding a cup of sugar each time. Last time, pack cucumbers in jars and cover with boiling syrup.
