1˝ lbs. Onions
3 oz. Butter
1 tsp. Ground Pepper
1 T. Paprika
2 Bay Leaves
1˝ tsp. Salt
˝ C. Flour
1˝ Quarts Beef Bouillon (from Cubes or Canned)

French Bread
Grated Swiss Cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Cut onion in half an slice with the grain to about ⅛" thick. Melt butter and add onions. Sauté slowly for 20 minutes, until onions are tender. Add paprika, pepper, bay leaves, and flour. Mix well on low heat. Cook for 5 minutes. Gradually add the bouillon, stirring frequently. Simmer soup, covered, for at least 30 minutes. If a rich brown color is desired, add Kitchen Bouquet. Taste the soup and season with salt and pepper.

Put soup into individual bowls, top with a slice of French bread and 1˝ oz. grated swiss cheese. Place under a broiler until cheese melts and is golden.
