Directions:
Combine caramel and butter in a double boiler and melt over medium heat, until smooth and melted. Add the two cups of pecan pieces and mix well. Drop by spoonfuls on cookie sheet either sprayed with Pam™ or lined in waxed paper. Insert a toothpick in middle of each and place in the freezer until completely hard.
Melt Hersey™ bars and paraffin or Chocolate Chips. Grasping toothpick, dip each cluster in the melted chocolate and place back on waxed paper. Remove toothpick. Drizzle small amount of chocolate over area where toothpick was removed. Chill until turtles are set. Store in covered containers and enjoy throughout the holidays!

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Mimi put in her recipe notes that these were very time consuming but well worth it and everyone loved them. She would sometimes put the caramel/pecan mixture in her hand and make small balls before placing on waxed paper to keep them from spreading out too thinly. (This may have been how they had a distinctive “smokey” flavor! :-)
