1 c. butter, softened
1 1/2 c. plus 2 T. sugar
2 large eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
2 t. cream of tartar
1 t. baking soda
1/4 t. salt
2 t. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, 1 1/2 c. sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture until well blended. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Combine remaining 2 T. sugar and cinnamon in a flat open bowl. Shape dough into 2 inch balls and roll in the sugar/cinnamon mixture. Place 3 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes.

Augie prefers to use margarine (Parkay) but I've always used butter.

Don't be stingy with the sugar and cinnamon. When cooking, cookies will puff and then flatten. Don't let the bottoms get too brown, just a dark tan. Store in a tupperware container to keep them soft!
