Notes: Grandma Phyllis had the greatest respect for her mother, Grandma Mable. She always referred to her as Mother. In the old days it was very beneficial to be a great cook. Grandma Mable and Grandma Phyllis were both excellent cooks.
Grandma Mable died when I was 5 or 6 however, I remember many meals at her house. Usually there were many family members present. I loved Grandma Mable's mashed potatoes. She never had running water but did have electricity.
Grandpa Rattle always had candy sticks for us. He would even allow us to climb on the counters to get one out of the high cupboard. Many times he would sit in his chair by the furnace and watch us. There was a doorway between the kitchen and living room. He had curly hair and very happy, dancing looking sky blue eyes. He was kind.
