¼ Cup butter or margarine
7 large eggs
2 cups of milk (commercial eggnog can be substituted for milk)
⅓ cup granulated sugar
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
¼ tsp of cinnamon
¼ salt
1½ tsp vanilla
1 French bread loaf, cut into 1" slices (can also use regular bread)
Confectioner's sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450º

* Pour melted butter into the bottom of a baking pan/sheet to coat
* Beat the next 7 ingredients together
* Dip both sides of each bread slice into the egg mixture and lay on baking sheet/pan
* Pour any remaining mixture over slices
* Cover and refrigerate overnight (can also be frozen)
* Uncover and bake at 450º on bottom rack for 20-25 minutes
* Place on rack to cool
* Dust with confectioner's sugar
* Serve with maple syrup and enjoy!

** Different types of fillings can be added between slices of bread. Apples, raisins peaches, plums, etc.
