2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1/8 tsp. salt

1 stick butter
1/2 cup canola oil
4 tbsp cocoa
1 c water

1/2 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
1tsp vanilla
1 tsp soda

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients together and set aside. In sauce pan mix the butter, oil, cocoa, and water. Bring to a boil. Pour over dry ingredients and mix well. Add buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, and soda. Mix well. Pour into greased 11x17 cookie sheet. Bake at 400º for 10-15 minutes. While this is baking, mix the following ingredients in sauce pan and bring to a boil.
1 stick butter
1 1/2 tbsp cocoa
6 tbsp milk
Remove from the stove and add 1 box powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, and 1 cup chopped nuts.
Spread topping on cake after it has cooled for 5 minutes (do not cool the icing). You can sprinkle the top with chocolate chips for an extra chocolatey dessert.

This was a family favorite when I was growing up. Yummy and easy! I have also sprinkled chocolate chips on the top for an extra chocolate boost. You could skip the nuts, but dad would be sad!
