Perfect (Sundrop) Pound Cake Recipe

Ingredients: For the cake:
3 cups sugar 2 sticks butter, softened 1/2 cup Crisco shortening 3 cups flour 6 oz Sundrop soft drink 5 eggs 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp lemon extract
For the glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar 2 tbsp melted butter 1 oz Sundrop soft drink
This can be baked in a rectangular cake pan but it also makes a beautiful bundt cake - just be sure to grease the pan well.

Directions:Heat oven to 350º
Grease and flour pan. Beat sugar, butter and Crisp until light and fully. Add remaining ingredients and pour into the prepared pan. Bake one hour and 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let cool 10 minutes before turning the cake out onto the serving pan.
For the glaze, whisk all ingredients together and using the whisk, drizzle the glaze over the cake. It's okay if it's a little messy and not consistent. |

Notes: Never heard of Sundrop? This soft drink manufactured in Gastonia, North Carolina. I personally think it's far better than Mountain Dew - but in a pinch use Mountain Dew for this recipe. Sprite is not a good substitute because it doesn't have enough lemon flavor.
This cake freezes very well. You can freeze whole or you can slice and freeze with parchment paper between the slices.
