Sour dough starter:
2 cups all purpose flour
½ tsp. salt
1 T. sugar
2 cups water

3 T. melted shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
2 T. sugar (or less)
1 tsp. baking soda (dissolved in water)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the sourdough starter ingredients to make a stiff paste, it will thin down as it works overnight.

In the morning pour into a bowl, all but 1 cup sourdough starter. Set this amount until needed again.

To the dough in the bowl add: shortening, egg, salt, sugar and baking soda. Mix. If dough seems to thick add some water.

Bake on hot griddle.
