1 large green pepper - diced
1 medium yellow onion - diced
1 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
Garlic - 1 3 cloves finely chopped or 1 heaping teaspoon of minced garlic
1/4 C Olive or vegetable oil - adjust as needed
3 heaping tablespoons Hot Hungarian Paprika
Chicken - skin on thighs or drumsticks 2 pc per portion
Flour for dredging
Chicken broth 4 cups
Sour cream - optional
Skillet to saute the veggies and brown the chicken.
Crock pot or stock pot deep enough to hold chicken and broth and dumplings

Dumplings - 1 recipe
1 C flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp softened butter or vegetable shortening
1/2 cup milk
Parsley is optional

Directions:
Directions:
In a large skillet, heat about 3 tablespoons of the oil to a shimmer, and saute the vegetables. Start with the peppers first for about 3 minutes. Add the onions and cook until just starting to turn translucent. Drain off any extra oil. Add the paprika and stir to coat the vegetables. Remove to the side. Add the remaining oil to the pan, bring to a medium heat while prepping the chicken.
Dredge the chicken pieces in flour. Brown on both sides in the hot oil and remove chicken .. Discard any remaining oil. Add back the chicken and veggies, stir to combine and continue saute for additional 5 minutes.
Place the chicken and veggies in the stock / crock pot Add pepper
Add the broth to the saute pan, bring to simmer, then add broth to stock/crock pot
Lower heat to a low simmer, cook for 30 minutes or in a crock pot up to 4 hours

Make the baking powder dumpling batter about 15 minutes before ready to eat They need to rest before dropping them in the hot broth
Scoop by tablespoon into the broth. Cover pot with a lid or piece of foil. Cook for up to 1 minute then check When they rise to the top they are done.
