3/4 c. Sugar
2 c. Milk (rich)
Dash of Salt
1 t. Vanilla
Dash of Nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk and add slowly to beaten eggs, sugar, salt, then add vanilla. If a thicker pie is wanted use deeper pan and add another egg and ½ c. milk to recipe. Pour in baked pie crust and refrigerate.

When I was going through recipes with Grandma Hyde, she pointed out that this recipe was from my Grandma Gregg's mother Mammy. I am terrible at making custard. I cannot scald milk, but I can sure burn it. Still it was important to add a recipe from Mammy.
