In a mixing bowl add flour, salt, and sugar and mix together well. Slice butter and use a fork to mix in with flour mixture until you have a crumbly texture. Next, add cold water slowly until you get the right consistency (you don't want your dough too wet and hard to roll). I added the full 1/2 cup to mine. When rolling the dough, sprinkle cutting board with flour.
Use hands to knead the dough then separate the dough in half.
Roll out both sections of dough place one on the bottom of the pie pan, fill, and top with the 2nd rolled out dough. Seal and bake according to directions.
Pie Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Roll out crust and place it in the bottom of a pie pan and set aside.
In a mixing bowl put all filling ingredients, and mix until apples are coated. Allow your apples filling to sit for at least 5 minutes before adding them to the crust.
Meanwhile, in a separate mixing bowl use a fork to combine all topping ingredients until the mixture is well combined and crumbly. You can use a fork but I also like to get in with my hands. Pinching the butter into small pieces and having them coated in the dry ingredients.
Spoon in apple filling then top with topping. Bake for 50-55 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream. |

Notes: -You will need 6-7 apples for this recipe.
-When you set aside the apple filling, try to let it sit for at least an hour and then drain. Otherwise, the juices may make the bottom of the pie soggy.
-Make sure the apples are sliced fairly thinly.
-When making the topping, make sure the butter is very cold.
-You will only need half of the pie crust but you can use the leftovers as decoration
