1 lb. ground beef
¼ tsp. salt
1 (24 oz.) pkg. frozen hashbrowns, thawed
1 (10¾ oz) can cream of mushroom soup
1 c. sour cream
2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1 onion, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. In a heavy skillet, cook ground beef with salt until browned, stirring to break into small pieces. With a slotted spoon, transfer to a large bowl. Add hashbrowns, soup, sour cream, cheese, and onion. Mix well. Spread in a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes.

If desired you can sprinkle french fried onions on top and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until bubbly. Grandma Mary apparently didn't like this idea because she crossed it out!
