2 c. sugar
1 c. water
¼ c. butter or margarine
pinch cream of tarter
few drops of food coloring
4 to 5 drops peppermint, lemon, or cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, water, butter, and tarter. Stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Cook stirring over high heat to 260º - keep sugar crystals off side with pastry brush. Pour onto greased cookie sheet and turn edges in so it won't get hard. When cool enough to handle, pour flavor and color and pull like taffy. Stretch into a ribbon and cut with kitchen shears.
