2 large eggs
2 large c. sugar (about 2½ cups)
1 c. lard
2 tsp. soda disolved in 1 c. running over with buttermilk
1 tsp lemon oil or vanilla (vanilla is best)
2 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Add enough flour to the mixture to make a stiff dough. Not real stiff. Just till it will stay in shape when dropped off the spoon. Then flatten. Drop by tbsps. full on a cookie sheet, flatten with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 400º till brown.
