2 squares unsweetened chocolate (2 oz.) melted
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 325º. Generously grease a square pan, 8x8x2-in. Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla. Add eggs, beat well. Blend in chocolate, then stir in flour and nuts. Spread in pan. Bake 30 minutes, but check around 25 minutes. Insert a toothpick to see if it's done. Cool and frost if you wish.


Fudge Frosting

Melt 1/2 of a 1 oz. square unsweetened chocolate with 1 tblsp. butter and 2 tblsp. milk over very low heat or in the microwave. Beat in 3/4 c. confectioners' sugar.

This recipe was in the Better Homes and Gardens Cookies and Candies Cookbook that my Aunt Mary Gisolo Oppenheimer gave me as a shower gift. I love this cookbook and have made these brownies ever since I have been married. Sometimes I take a shortcut now and use a box mix (!) but if I do that, I add chocolate chips for extra richness.
