6 tbsp butter, 1 large chopped onion sal/pepper 10 large egs 3 1/2 cups of half and half, 1/2 cup grated parm cheese 1 1/2 lb stale french bread or Scali bread. 1 lb trimmed broccoli florets 3 chopped cloves garlic 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper 4 cups of grated sharp cheddar.

Heat 1tbsp butter and onions add salt pepper cook until tender about 8 min. add garlic about 1/2 way Set Aside. Cook broccoli in 3 tbsp water until bright green about 2 mins. drain set aside. In a large bowl beat the eggs, whisk in half and half, and parm cheese. Grease a 3 qt baking dish with 1 tbsp butter, butter bread slices about 1/2 in thick and place on the bottom of the baking dish. Cut bread to fit. IN Layers add 1/2 onion-garlic mix. Sprinkle 1/2 cheddar cheese over and repeat. Pour egg mixture over the strata. Press to compact, Cover with plastic wrap place on a baking sheet and place large cans of tomatoes or veggies to compact. Place in fridge overnight. Bake 350 degrees for 60 min. Let cool 10 min. Serve hot or warm.
