Pastry: 2 c. flour
1 tsp salt + 2 tsp. baking soda
c. shortening
c. milk

6 sweet/tart small apples
1 c. sugar + 2 tsp cinnamon
6 tsp butter

Sauce: 1 c. sugar
2 c. water
4 TBS butter
2 tsp. cinnamon + tsp. nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Pastry: sift together dry ingredients. Cut in shortening, add milk.
Roll out of pastry to a thin rectangle. Cut into 6 squares.

Peel and core apples. Place 1 apple on a pastry square, fill cavity with sugar and cinnamon mix, put a tsp of butter on top. Pull up corners of pastry to top and pinch together. place each prepared apple in a greased 9x13 pan.

Sauce: Mix 1 sugar with water, butter, cinnamon and nutmeg. Bring to a boil and boil 3 min. Pour over apples.

Bake 375 for 30 -35 minutes

This sauce will thicken as it bakes. These are yummy hot or cold!
You can use pre-made pie crust. Roll out thinner, cut in quarters.
