2 pounds ground beef
2 tablespoons minced onion or 1/2 cup regular onion, diced
1 can chicken gumbo soup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon prepared mustard or 3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
Large bottle of ketchup
6 bay leaves
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Optional ingredients to enhance flavor:
1/2 cup chopped green and red peppers
1 - 2 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or more to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Brown ground beef with onion. Use salt and pepper to taste. Drain fat off of the meat. Add undiluted soup, brown sugar, mustard, and ketchup along with any of the additional seasonings. Mix together. Add bay leaves and let simmer for 30 to 40 minutes. Remove bay leaves and serve on your favorite hamburger buns.
