2 lbs. chopped, peeled and cored apples OR 1½ c. applesauce
6 T water (if using applesauce omit water)
1 c. sugar
1 c. butter/margarine
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 c. raisins, soaked - see directions
⅛ tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 375º

If using fresh apples, cook apples with water in a covered saucepan over low heat, until apples are tender. Cool slightly then puree in blender or mash with fork.

Soak raisins in hot water 5 minutes until ready to add.

Grease baking sheet or line with parchment. In medium bowl, cream sugar and butter. Mix in apple puree or applesauce.

Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon into butter/sugar mix and blend thoroughly. Drain soaked raisins and mix into batter.

Drop by tablespoon onto baking sheet 2" apart. Bake 8-10 minutes.
