1-1½ pounds ground beef
½ cup onion (chopped) or 2 tablespoons of instant minced onion
¼ cup green chilies (diced)
½ cup red pepper (chopped)
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
2 teaspoons chili powder
½-¾ teaspoon garlic salt
1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated buttermilk
1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup dairy sour cream
1 egg (slightly beaten)

Preheat oven to 375ºF.

Brown ground beef, onion, red pepper, and chilies in large frying pan; drain.

Stir in tomato sauce, chili powder, and garlic salt. Simmer over low heat while preparing the biscuit dough.

Separate biscuit dough into 10 biscuits; pull each apart into 2 layers. Press 10 biscuit layers over the bottom of an ungreased 8 inch square baking pan.

In a small bowl, combine ½ cup cheddar cheese (reserve remaining for top), sour cream and egg. Mix well.

Remove meat mixture from heat; stir in cheddar and sour cream mixtures. Spoon over the layer of dough in pan.

Arrange remaining biscuit layers over the top of meat/cheese. Sprinkle with the remaining cheddar cheese.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until biscuits are deep golden brown.
