2 lbs of lean beef boiled tender, and minced fine when cold.
4 lbs of tart apples. chopped fine
2 lbs suet, chopped fine
2 lbs layer raisins
2 lbs sultanas
2 lbs currants
½ lb citron peel shredded
½ lb each orange and lemon
¼ lb almonds and walnuts

Directions:

Put over the fire with 3 lbs. of brown sugar made to a good syrup with little water. While heating add ½ dessert spoon each of ground clove, allspice and ground ginger, one grated nutmeg, juice and rind of the lemons. Boil 15minutes take from fire and when cold add one quart sweet apple cider. Pack in a stone crock. When properly sealed will keep for months and grow more mellow with age.
