⅔ c water
⅓ c pomegranate juice
½ c sugar
¼ c crystallized ginger, finely chopped
2 c fresh cranberries
zest of 1 orange

Directions:
Directions:
1. Bring water, juice, sugar, and ginger to boil in saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook until all the sugar is dissolved.

2. Add cranberries and return to boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer until the cranberries have burst.

3. Allow to cool to room temperature before adding orange zest. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

I never really cared for canned cranberry sauce, but I tried this sauce with whole cranberries for a Friends-giving once and discovered I loved it. And it's super easy to make. I added pomegranate juice, orange, and candied ginger to give it a special holiday flavor.
