¼ c. butter
¼ c. Crisco shortening (solid, not oil)
1 c. granulated sugar
½ c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
¾ c. raisins
1 12 oz. package semi-sweet chocolate baking chips
¾ c. raisins (or ¾ c. chopped dates)
1 jar Maraschino cherries, (cut cherries in half)

Cream butter, Crisco and sugar together. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift flour and add salt, baking soda and cream of tartar. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. If mixture is too dry or crumbly, add 1 tbsp of milk, as needed. Stir in raisins and chips (not using mixer.)

Place dough by the teaspoonful on ungreased cookie sheet and decorate on top with ½ cherry per cookie. Bake 10 - 12 minutes at 375º.
