6 Granny Smith apples (about 3 lbs)
2 tbsp all purpose flour
2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar, divided
1 cup butter, divided
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
2/3 cup chopped pecans, toasted
1/2 pkg refrigerated pie crusts dough

Apple Cider Sauce: 1 cup apple cider, 1 cup lt brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 1/4 cup heavy cream

Peel apples, cut in 1/4" slices. Toss with 2 tbsp flour and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Melt 1/4 cup butter in iron skillet over med high heat. Add apple mixture and saute 15 mins or til apples are tender and liquid thickens. Remove and cool completely. Preheat oven 350 degrees. Melt remaining 3/4 cup butter. In bowl stir together 1 1/2 cups flour, baking powder and salt. Add beaten eggs, melted butter and remaining 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, stirring til blended. Stir in pecans. Place pie crust in iron skillet pressing it up the sides. Spoon 2/3 of apple mixture over bottom of pie crust. Gently press apples into even layer w/back of spoon. Spoon the batter over the apples and top with remaining apple mixture. Place pie on lower rack and bake 70-80 mins. Remove from oven and cool. Drizzle cool pie with 1/3 cup of caramel sauce and serve with remaining sauce. Sauce: Cook cider 10 mins to reduce to 1/4 cup, stirring often. Stir in remaining ingredients and bring to boil, stirring constantly. Boil 2 more mins. Remove and cool.
