3lbs stew meat
2 large onions chopped
2 cloves garlic pressed or minced
1 TBS Worchestershire Sauce
1/3 cup dry red wine
2 TBSf sugar
1 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp pepper
1 qrt beef broth
1 bottle or can beer
2 large potatoes peeled and cut
4 large carrots
2 cups ruff chopped cabbage
1 cup chopped celery
2 dried bay leaves

In a pot combine beef, onions, garlic and Worchestershire Sauce. Cover and cook on med -high for 30 minutes. Uncover and stir often until liquid evaporates. Add wine and stir, scraping the brown bits from the bottom of pot. In a separate bowl mix together flour, sugar, thyme, pepper, and 1 cup of broth. Add slurry to pot and stir. Add beer, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, celery and bay leaves. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 - 2 hrs.
