1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup sugar
2 tbsp cocoa

1/2 cup milk
2 tbsp shortening, melted (or vegetable oil)

1 cup chopped walnuts

1 cup brown sugar
4 tbsp cocoa

Directions:

Sift together in a bowl:
flour
baking powder
salt
sugar
cocoa

Stir in:
milk
shortening or vegetable oil

Blend in the chopped nuts

Spread mixture in a 9" x 9" pan.

Sprinkle with the mixture of brown sugar and cocoa.

Pour over the entire batter: 1 3/4 cups HOT water

Bake at 350º for 45 minutes

This recipe is very easy to make and taste very delicious! It is from the original "Betty Crocker's Cook Book for Boys and Girls" which I had when I was young. It is a moist cake which a hot fudge syrup forming underneath the cake. Add some ice cream or whipped cream and you will love it!!
