Snickerdoodles Recipe

2 ¾ cups flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
½ cup shortening
½ cup butter softened
1 ½ cup sugar
2 eggs

Topping:
3 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all the dry ingredients and set aside.
In a different bowl, blend butter and shortening until creamy and then add the sugar. Add the eggs and mix well.
Gradually add the dry ingredients. If it is too dry to form a small ball, add milk.
Cover and chill at least an hour.

Preheat oven to 375º
Grease cookie sheet or use a silpat or parchment paper. These will stick to the pan.
Mix cinnamon and sugar in small bowl
Using a teaspoon, scoop dough and them form a small ball.
Roll the ball into cinnamon sugar.
Place at least 2 inches apart on cookie sheet
Bake 8-10 minutes
Cool on wire rack

I put a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg into the dough but it was not in the original recipe i received from Grandma Murrietta.
