1¼ c sugar
1 c (1 stick) butter flavor Crisco shortening
2 eggs
¼ c light corn syrup
1 T vanilla
3 c flour
¾ t baking powder
½ t baking soda
½ t salt
For decorations, use colored sugar, frosting, etc.

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar and shortening with mixer until well blended.
Add eggs, syrup, and vanilla and beat well.
Add dry ingredients in 3 parts (about 1 c) and mix on low until blended.
Divide dough in 5 parts in wax paper and refrigerate 1-2 hours.
Spread about 1 T of flour on board or on wax paper.
Roll each piece of dough to about ¼" thick.
Cut cookie cutters dipped in flour.
Use large pancake turner dipped in flour to transfer to cookie sheet, spaced 1-2" apart.
Sprinkle with colored sugar or leave plain to frost.
Bake at 375º F. for 5-9 min. Edges should be light brown when done.
Cool 2 min. and remove with large pancake turner to cooling rack or on cooled cookie sheet or plate.
When cool, frost and decorate as desired.
