2 cups self-rising hot rise cornmeal mix
1 cup of self-rising flour
1 tsp. sugar
pinch of salt
1 egg
2 cups of buttermilk

Preheat oven to 450
-
Pour a tbsp. of vegetable oil in a large (8-10 inch) iron skillet, and place in the preheating oven to get the skillet hot.

In a mixing bowl, whisk dry ingredients together. Add egg and buttermilk, mix thoroughly. Remove hot skillet from oven and pour cornbread batter into skillet. Bake 25-30 minutes, or until cornbread is done.
