Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3½ c all-purpose flour
3 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp double-acting baking powder
1½ tsp salt
¼ c margarine (or butter)
1¼ c milk
1 egg
2 small garlic cloves, crushed

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl with fork, mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. With pastry blender, cut in margarine(butter) until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
In small bowl mix remaining ingredients; stir egg mixture into flour mixture just until flour is moistened (dough will be stiff and sticky.)
Turn dough onto well-floured surface; knead until smooth and not sticky, about 5 minutes (this was a pain; it took me AT LEAST 10 minutes). Shape dough into loaf and place into well-greased 9"x5" loaf pan. With knife make 6 diagonal slashes ¼" deep across top of bread.
Bake in preheated 375º oven, 1 hr and 10 minutes or until golden.
Once bread is baked, unless you eat it all in <6 days, be sure to keep it in 'frig or freezer, or otherwise it will mold.
