1 cup butter
1˝ cups sugar
2 eggs
˝ tsp. almond extract
˝ tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
3 cups flour

Filling:
⅔ cup evaporated milk
1˝ (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
8 oz. cream cheese
1 cup walnuts chopped
˝ tsp. almond extract

Filling:
Melt first 3 ingredients in medium sauce pan over low heat (I use the microwave with a 8 cup liquid measuring cup). Stir until chips are melted and smooth. Stir in walnuts and almond extract.
Bars:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In large mixing bowl, combine butter, sugar, eggs, and almond extract. Blend well with mixer. Add flour, salt and baking powder. Press half of mixture in greased 9X13 baking pan. Spread chocolate filling on top. With remaining bar mixture, drop 1/2 tsp. on top of filling to creat 24 evenly spaced drops. Bake for 35-40 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.

When my mom really liked a recipe, she would put “V.G.” in the corner of the page or on her type written note cards. So I started doing that to the written ones I have. This recipe is one of those. In case you haven’t figured out what “V.G.” , it means “very good”.
