2 lbs beef, cubed
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 garlic clove, chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 bay leaves
1 tbsp. salt
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp paprika
dash allspice or ground cloves
4 carrots, chopped
4 potatoes, cubed

Pastry:
2 c flour
2 tsp baking powder
3 tbsp. butter
1/2 c milk
1 tbsp. sugar

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cook beef in pot with olive oil for 20 min.
2. Pour in 4 c boiling water and lower heat.
3. Add all other ingredients, except carrots and potatoes.
4. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours
5. Add carrots and potatoes and cook for 20 min until veges are soft.
6. Make pastry and roll out to the size of the roaster.
7. Place stew in roaster and add pastry on top.
8. Bake at 350 F until pastry browns
