Ingredients:
Ingredients:
16 oz box brown sugar
½ c butter or margarine
2 c self-rising flour
3 eggs
2 c chopped pecans
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar over low heat until sugar melts. Add beaten eggs, flour and vanilla. Mix in nuts and pour into a greased 9" x 13" pan. Bake at 350º for 25-30 minutes. Cut into squares when cool.
It's tricky to know when this is finished baking; you can't use a toothpick because the cake is supposed to still be sticky inside when done. And you can't really use pressing down lightly on the top as an indicator, because it doesn't spring back much, even when done. What I think is, it's done once all the edges start to pull away from the sides of the pan.The first time I made it I baked it for 40 minutes, which was too long. The 2nd time I made only ½ recipe and baked 30 minutes(in 8"x8" pan), which was perfect. For full recipe, 35 minutes probably correct.
