3 tbsp butter or margarine
*6 oz can mushrooms chopped and drained (or use fresh mushrooms)
1 medium yellow onion, minced
1 clove garlic minced
1 lb lean ground beef (sirloin)
1 tsp salt; freshly ground pepper
2 tbsp dry Sherry
1 cup sour cream

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in skillet over low heat. Add mushrooms and onion and cook until soft; add meat and seasonings. Cook over medium heat until meat begins to turn gray, stirring with a fork to break up the meat. Remove pan from heat, pour in sherry. Cook a few minutes then add sour cream. Replace skillet over low heat. Cook until sauce begins to simmer, stirring often. Do not boil.
Serve over hot cooked rice, or buttered noodles tossed with poppy seeds
Garnish with snipped fresh parsley, chives or dill.

I got this recipe in the 70’s from the paper. The title was ‘Mary Tyler Moore’s Poor Mans Stroganoff' I still love it!
