½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
2 tablespoons milk or cream
3 drops food coloring, or as needed

Cream the butter.
Add the vanilla.
Gradually add powdered sugar.
Add cream.

Whip the combined mixture for 4-5 minutes to desired consistency or until light and fluffy.
