24 green bell peppers

8 large apples
5 T salt
12 green tomatoes
4-5 cups of sugar

Directions:
Remove seeds from peppers, peel onions. Cut tomatoes in large pieces or split. Put all this through a food chopper. Cover with boiling water or let hot water run through it (in a colander) for a few minutes. Drain or drip for about 10 minutes. Add chopped apples and mix well. (Do not cook in Aluminum cookware.) Now put in a large pot, for cooking. Put in 5 T salt, 4 or 5 cups of sugar, a quart of vinegar. (I use 1 t of cloves and 1 t spoon of cinnamon.) and I have added the same amount of mixed ground spices and half of the others tow above. Boil for 15-25 minutes put in hot pint jars and seal. Note: Dosie is Alvah's mother-in-law. Alvah wrote this is Momie Strawn's Recipe. Alvah made this about 30 years ago in Gadsden, Alabama and it was the best she ever made.
